Oh What a Night.....

Let the record show, Steve and I are no longer dating and have decided to just be friends. With that said, The two of us decided to go out this weekend, as just that, Friends. The plan was simple, we were going to head to the Festival of Trees, something we both had been wanting to do together. This is where the "simple" plan started to go sour. We found out that we had missed the Festival of Trees last weekend. So the plan formulated into heading downtown to attempt getting standby tickets for the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert, which quickly turned into just seeing the lights at Temple Square because Steve was still trying to get over a cold so standing outside for an hour and a half didn't sound to thrilling. I agreed because my cold has flared up again and I wasn't feeling too hot either. So the NEW plan was to head downtown to see the lights and get some dinner. Steve came and picked me up to discover how sick I was. He needed to go to the ATM so we headed to the bank where we sat at the ATM for about 5 minutes because the machine was running rediculously slow. This was the first of things to "go wrong". We then decided to take trax in to avoid the lack of parking downtown. This is where the night took an interesting turn. (When I say interesting, Please note, that I realize this whole post will more than likely only be "interesting" to Steve and I) We headed to the 2100 South stop. When we got there we discovered that the ticket machines were only taking coins, No Bills!! What?! Who carries around $8.00 in coins! So we decided to head to the 1300 South stop to see if we could get tickets there. Well Steve missed the exit for 1300 S. and got off on 9th. Rather than turning around, he decided to brave downtown and test our luck in trying to find a parking spot. With the way things has been going thus far, we both should have realized that we would NOT "get lucky" in finding somewhere to park. We drove around for a good 15 minutes or more, discussing the turn of events that had transpired so far, with no luck of finding a spot. After driving around in circles, Steves frustration got the best of him and he gave up. We headed back towards home and decided to go to Ihop for some dinner. Or I guess I should say breakfast! The way things had been going, it got us thinking about what else could possibly go wrong. A couple things we came up with: Ihop would be closed, all boarded up with not a soul in sight, or ordering something that they just happened to be out of. Luckily neither of those things happened, but we were sure not out of the woods yet as far as weird things happening. Our dear sweet waitress Alex, definately added to the weirdness of the night. In attempts not to be rude and publicly scrutinize someone that I don't know, I will spare Alex of my "thoughts" of her and just give you a couple examples of what happened. Among many things, Steve got asked how he would like his hash browns cooked. And the "hot chocolate nazi" wouldn't give him a refill on his hot chocolate. EVEN if he paid for another one!!!! Poor Alex, I really hope that she didn't catch on to the fact that our dinner entertainment was HER and that our laughter was centered around her! : / We are not very good people. This just proves that to be true! At times I couldn't even look at Steve cause I knew exactly what he was thinking and didn't want to start laughing right in front of her. Here is how we captured the moment:

We then headed to Steve's house to watch Groundhogs day. Followed by a recollection of the nights events along with a good laugh. The night was full of ups and downs and was very funny and ironic to say the least! It was good that we could both laugh at the situations and not let it "ruin" the night. I mentioned to Steve that it was a good thing that this wasn't a first date, Can you imagine?! We both made it home safe, which was a good thing, but when I got home, to top the night off, I was locked out of the house. I spent a cold 10 minutes outside waiting for my sister to arrive with the key.
It was definately an interesting way to start off our.... friendship, and I'm glad that Steve and I can both laugh at the same things and got a good laugh at the night. haha Thanks Steve!

Conference Weekend!

This weekend, so far, has been a great weekend, Of course because it is General Conference time! I love it when this time comes around. Stacie and I decided, once again to head downtown to the conference center to see if we could get tickets for the Saturday morning session. This has come to be somewhat of a tradition, and I hope that we can continue doing it in the future. We go down and stand at the conference center, hoping to get tickets from anyone that may have extras. So far we have been successful every time! Today was no exception! Within 2 minutes of getting there we had 2 tickets! It was great!

The first session was great. It is always so great to be in the presence of the Prophet and Apostles. The spirit that is felt there is over whelming. It is such a unifying feeling knowing how many people around the world are all listening to the words of the Prophet as of members of the church. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and more words from the Lord's faithful servants.

Humility

This weekend has been a very humbling weekend for me. I have learned a quick and harsh lesson, that I should have learned a long time ago. I will be the first person to admit that I am quick to 'judge' (for a lack of better word) people that I don't know well, or people that I don't even know at all. This is going to be something that I will be working on, on a day to day basis. None of us know what others are going through, what trials they may be facing, or what obstacles they may have, that have put them in the spot that they are in. This has been brought to my attention on many different occasions this last weekend. I'm greatful for this lesson, and for our fast and testimony meeting today, and for Conference weekend coming up! I love conference time and can't wait! I hope we can all think twice before we jump to conclusions about others. And look at them through the eyes of Christ.

Alive and Well.......

So damn easy to say that life’s so hard
Everybody’s got their share of battle scars
As for me I’d like to think my lucky stars that
I’m alive, and well

It’d be easy to add up all the pain
And all the dreams you set and watch go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain
But not me, I’m alive

And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathing in and out is a blessing can’t you see
Today is the first day of the rest of my life
And I’m alive, and well
I’m alive, and well

Stars are dancin’ on the water here tonight
It’s good for the soul, and there’s not a sole in sight
But this motors caught it wind and brought me back to life
Now I’m alive, and well

And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathing in and out is a blessing can’t you see
Today is the first day of the rest of my life
Now I’m alive, and well
Yeah I’m alive, and well

Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthews - I'm Alive

If you haven't heard this song yet check it out by clicking on the link above. I'm not a huge fan of Kenny Chesney or even Dave Matthews, but I love this song. It's so true. We all have so many things in life that can hinder us. I can personally attest to this. Day to day there are things that can bring us down, cause stress or worry and deter us from seeing how lucky we really are. Aside from all these distractions, I am so grateful to be alive and well! I am so grateful for my life and my health and ALL those around me who complete my life. I am a healthy, strong young women who has so much life to live! I am so blessed to have such great friends, and siblings that love me no matter what. I love you all! I'm blessed and greatful to have a job in these times that I know so many people do not have the same security of having. All these blessings that I take for granted are solely provided by the Lord. I am so grateful for all that he has provided me with and continues to provide for me everyday.
He is the reason........

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Well this labor day was supposed to be spent with the fam at the Grand Canyon. To make a long and boring story short, that did not happen. Instead, we went to Bear Lake, and I'm so glad we did! It was such a fun weekend with my family and a couple friends. What was supposed to be a weekend of camping, quickly turned into a hotel one night and Kim's beautiful ranch the rest of the weekend! Friday night was spent in Logan at the Best Western! WOOT! Swimming and some good old Olive Garden was really roughin it! Followed by some mad gab and bed!
Saturday morning we all woke up and headed to the lake for some jet skiing. The weather was supposed to be a bit questionable, but we ended up dodging the rain! It was a fun, relaxing day at the beach. Kim and Parker joined us later on to finish up with a ride out on the lake. Jenn occupied herself with the following, while Sadie slept:

201 shells in all!

Playing and relaxing on the beach

After our day at the beach we headed to Kim's ranch where we stayed for the weekend. Her and her family as well as Parker were all kind enought to offer their places for us to stay so that we didn't have to risk not getting a camp site. Thanks Guys =)
After some dinner we decided to go four wheeling. Followed by some mad gab....and a MAD game of spoons. Which I DOMINATED!Sunday was spent at the beach, and with a game of Volleyball. My family left Sunday evening and I decided to stay until Monday with Parker and Kim. We decided to go four wheeling again and got some great and fun shots of the moon! So much fun!
Weekend Re-Cap:
1. Thats what she said!
2. Jr. High Girls
3. Spoons and Ashlee Domination
4. Sisters!
5. A New friend!
6. Time with the fam
6. Getting to know Jen
7. Kim: "SLOW DOWN"!
8. Very SCARY stories around the camp fire!
9. Four Wheeling and Jet Skiing
10. Long weekend!

All in all it was a great weekend and I wouldn't have changed a thing! Except maybe the camping part, I was looking forward to camping!
Thanks Everyone! Love you all!

Random Friday Night....

Last night was spent with some of my favorite people, Shannon, Jill and Stacie. We all accompanied Jill to her work bbq. Little did we know that Stacie would have a near death experience there! Among many children, some great bbq food and Jill's coworkers, Stacie was hit with a FLYING croquet ball! Fortunately it was in the shin and not in the head, regardless it was a very funny and obviously unexpected event! Knowing the sheer size and weight of a croquet ball, I wasn't sure weather to laugh or be concerned! Well I did both! The ball came flying towards all of us as we sat eating our food, as we all parted to dodge the ball, Stacie sat wondering what was going on, Just as the ball fell towards her and hit her in the shin! It was obvious that this had to have hurt but she took it like a trooper and was just fine! It was so funny!!
Shannon and I both wore red and white that night, Shannon polk-a-dots and I, stripes. Of course this had to be picture documented!

After some hamburgers, watching some soccer and croquet and a bit of mingling, we decided to head out. With the night still young, and nothing to do, we headed to Yogurt Stop! After some yumminess, we, as usual, got wrapped up in a photo shoot! I dont think that an activity can go by without some pictures taken! Thats one thing I love about these girls. We are always up for some picture taking and thats exactly what we did!
The night was so much fun and I was so happy to spend it with these girls! There is never a dull moment when we are together and I love every minute of it! =)
